[00:00:00] If you're struggling to grow your business and you're still uber committed to it, and maybe you're even a high performer, which, if you're listening to this podcast, I would tell you you're in the top 21% and that makes you a. That makes you a high performer. Chances are very good that you just haven't done this one thing and we're going to talk about that today on Fix A Screw Fest.
[00:00:23] If you're new to the podcast, welcome. My name is Genvskori. I'm a former C suite executive of a 350 million dollar brand. I have sat in Boardro with lots of people who know big things about sales and merchandising and manufacturing, all different types of businesses. And there are some commonalities across the board that I know can help women grow their businesses. And so that's what we address on Fix this Grow fast. So grab a drink, grab your journal. It's all about doing things in a calm, confident way. And I'm super excited to teach you what I know.
[00:00:59] And I'm super excited to have conversations around how to grow your business without creating more hustle, but more authenticity and more impact.
[00:01:12] So last week as I was talking to women across multiple platforms, I found this one common conversation that just made me want to stop and talk to y' all about it because I really feel like in particular, high performing women struggle with this topic. And that is the topic of making a decision about your success.
[00:01:39] Now what I mean by that is plenty of us are showing up every day, plenty of us are working hard every day, plenty of us are doing the do and keeping busy and all the while wondering why it feels a little like mud, like walking through mud or molasses. It just feels slow, it feels heavy.
[00:02:05] Maybe you're doing things and nothing feels like it's sticking or having impact.
[00:02:11] I want you to, I want you to think about this podcast and in particular the subject of making a decision.
[00:02:22] Are you avoiding making a decision that could propel your business forward?
[00:02:29] Now, what I have seen over the last few weeks, and it's an ongoing conversation with people, are people that are talking about their obstacles. There's a, there's a lot of obstacle talking going on on social media. There's people that are like, you know, oh my gosh, this is so hard, or why is this so hard? Or I can't find the time. Like, I hear that a lot.
[00:02:52] I can't find the time. I would do it.
[00:02:56] But now high performing women very often get to the but.
[00:03:06] And then they create backup plans because we're high performers.
[00:03:13] So. So being a high performing woman does not exempt you from this. As a matter of fact, I think it might make it a little worse because we tend to take things to heart, we tend to want things, I think, a little more committedly. Is that a word? Committedly? I think that high performing women expect more from themselves. And when we get frustrated, instead of looking internally, we start to look externally.
[00:03:43] When the truth is, is if we would just confront the decision that we are not willing to make, everything would change.
[00:03:53] So what am I talking about? I am talking specifically about not deciding that we're going to make it work.
[00:04:02] There, I said it.
[00:04:06] Have you fully decided that you are going to make it? Whatever it is, have you fully decided you're going to make it work?
[00:04:17] Some of us are fair weather business owners or fair fair weather sellers or fair weather CEOs.
[00:04:29] It's like we're in until it feels like it's not working.
[00:04:35] And then we let that feeling sabotage every dream, hope and strategy that we have.
[00:04:43] And because we haven't fully made the decision to commit to making it work, we get distracted by every sparkly thing, every weird conversation, everybody else's drama instead of staying focused on making it work. You know, the commitment we made.
[00:05:08] Until you decide that you're going to make it work, everything will feel shaky until you have made the decision that come hell or high water, you are going to figure it out. And, and here's the thing. That's like a fun thing to say.
[00:05:28] That's a fun thing to say until there are all kinds of crazy obstacles. Like, it's like, no matter what, I'm gonna make it work. And then all of a sudden you're like, oh my gosh, we don't have Internet access.
[00:05:40] What are we gonna do? Oh my gosh, Facebook isn't working today, right? You said no matter what. And when you say no matter what, what begins to happen is your brain functions differently the minute you say, I'm not really sure how this is going to happen.
[00:06:00] I am just sure that it is going to happen.
[00:06:04] Distractions kind of take a back seat and solutions start to form right before your very eyes.
[00:06:16] Some business builders have not made the decision that they're going to join the 1 comma club. And by that I mean you haven't made the decision that I'm going to make enough money every single month that my checks will have a comma in them.
[00:06:34] And then once you get to the 1 comma club, maybe you've never fully decided that you're going to get to the 2 comma, 2 comma club a month.
[00:06:45] And let me tell you, everything gets really fun in the 2 comma club.
[00:06:51] Like, really fun.
[00:06:54] Maybe you haven't made the decision that you're going to get to your next title. Maybe you haven't made the decision that you are going to call and reach out to people and get the sales instead of waiting for the sales to come to you.
[00:07:13] Maybe you haven't made the decision to actually show up for yourself. You know, one.
[00:07:19] One issue that I find that is out there pervasively is this notion that I don't have enough time.
[00:07:29] People who have made the decision to make it work, y', all, they find the time.
[00:07:38] It's really crazy, isn't it?
[00:07:41] We all have the same hours in a week. And I know some of y' all have other jobs, and that's okay.
[00:07:52] I had another job for a very long time while I was side hustling.
[00:07:58] But there's a huge, huge difference between people who have made a decision and the results that they get and the people that are just waiting and seeing what happens.
[00:08:12] Once you decide something is going to happen, once you have decided that you are committed, once you have decided this is the year, things magically start to happen. And I don't believe in magic. I say that because it looks like magic.
[00:08:33] But what begins to happen is your brain and your subconscious work for you instead of against you.
[00:08:43] So now you're. You're having second thoughts about the way you're selling. That's okay.
[00:08:50] Like, it is okay to upgrade your selling techniques to something more meaningful and something more impactful and something more.
[00:09:01] Something more authentic. That's okay. That is the sign of you forming a new identity around yourself and your business. You see, when somebody tells me, I don't want to sell like that anymore, basically what they're telling me is I had this identity. It was okay for a little bit to be a slinger, to be a discounter, to be a, you know, a check box. A box checker. That was okay.
[00:09:30] But now. Now I want to be seen as something different. I want to feel like something different. Let me. Let me give you an analogy outside of business.
[00:09:41] So a few years ago, during COVID we joined Tonal Gym, which was a home gym thing you put on your wall and, you know, all this kind of stuff. And there would be these instructors that would show up, and there was one instructor, and he would be like, hello, athletes. Okay, athletes today. Athletes hello, athletes, athletes, we have one more thing to do. And at first, when he would call us athletes, I would chuckle because there I was, you know, chubby girl, overweight, and I'm like, I'm not an athlete.
[00:10:22] And then after a while, he kept calling me an athlete, and I felt like he was talking to me.
[00:10:29] And I started to adopt the identity of an athlete.
[00:10:34] I literally started to think of myself as someone who was fit, someone who was capable. Do you think I showed up more often?
[00:10:46] I sure did, because athletes commit to their workout.
[00:10:51] Do you think I bought cute clothes, Cuter clothes?
[00:10:55] I did because athletes are proud of their body no matter the shape. Do you think I lifted more, Lifted heavier, did more action? A hundred percent because I was an athlete.
[00:11:15] Are you picking up what I'm laying down?
[00:11:17] I actually even dumped the gym I was going to because when I looked around, none of those people look like athletes. They were all walking on treadmills. They didn't look like athletes. They were all doing their thing, but they didn't look like athletes. I ended up joining a gym where when I walked in, I felt like an athlete.
[00:11:40] I saw myself as someone who lifted weights. I saw myself as someone who commits to work out.
[00:11:48] The same is true with your business.
[00:11:51] So many women start off with a side hustle, and I did. So I know it was fun. It was my fun money. It was my TJ Maxx and home goods. I don't have to tell my husband about it money. And as long as I looked at it that way, it provided me the very thing that coincide with that identity.
[00:12:14] But the minute I decided, wait a minute, wait a minute, I.
[00:12:21] I want to have my own business.
[00:12:23] Wait a minute. I want what she has, and I'm willing to work for it.
[00:12:29] The minute I changed my identity, I did things differently.
[00:12:36] I found time.
[00:12:39] I found time to do my personal development every morning.
[00:12:43] I found time to get on training calls. I found the money to go to corporate events. I found money to go to expos and conferences to get better. I made the money, I made the time, and. And I made the commitment. That didn't come along with an identity of a side hustler.
[00:13:09] It is totally okay to be working your way out of a business. It is totally okay to want more from the business that you do have. It is totally okay to look at 2026 and say, I don't want it to look like 2025, and I don't want to sell that way. And I don't want to be Discount Debb and I Don't want to be hustling. Hannah, it is okay. All of those things are identity shifts and they come along with a decision.
[00:13:45] So many of you are at the tipping point of your business simply being asked to make that decision, to make it work.
[00:13:58] When you make the decision to make it work, it doesn't matter who else has made the decision.
[00:14:05] It doesn't matter if you have Facebook or Instagram. It doesn't matter if you have phones for the day or not. You figure it out.
[00:14:16] It doesn't matter what these people are doing. It doesn't matter about that shiny thing. Because you've made a commitment, you've made a decision.
[00:14:27] And commitments don't come before a decision.
[00:14:33] The decision comes first.
[00:14:36] And leaders, because you're a leader, leaders make decisions uncertain leaders make decision in uncertainty. Leaders make certainty out of uncertainty. And that creates the calm confidence you can have what you are looking for.
[00:15:01] You have to. However, my friend, you have to decide.
[00:15:07] You have to decide you're worth it. You have to decide that you can do it. You have to decide. Not knowing how, how is none of your business.
[00:15:18] When you're making a decision, it's not required, but you have to decide. I will join the 1 comma a month club. I will join the 2 comma a month club. I will make it happen.
[00:15:33] Then the excuses fall away.
[00:15:36] But they don't fall away until you decide.
[00:15:43] So if it's important, you've got to make that decision to make it happen.
[00:15:50] And that means you will find the time.
[00:15:54] That means you will prioritize it. That means you will do the do. You will fail. You will get up. You will make it happen.
[00:16:04] It means that you are willing to confront that the. The unknown.
[00:16:12] Listen, none of us have a crystal ball.
[00:16:16] That step doesn't require you to know. It requires you to decide.
[00:16:24] So today I'm asking, what do you need to decide? Do you need decide to commit to your next level? Do you need to decide to stick it out, whatever it is? Do you need to decide decide that no matter what, you're going to make your calls every day? Do you need to decide that you're going to turn these calls into something that you love doing? Do you need to decide that you will schedule the time? Do you need to decide that you will pick a number and work toward it? Listen, there are all kinds of varying decisions that you may not be making that are holding you back.
[00:17:07] Make those decisions, you will see an incredible amount of confidence, growth and impact by simply making the next decision.
[00:17:21] Now, to help you along the next the next podcast is going to be a guest.
[00:17:27] Every fourth podcast is now going to be me and another guest for about six months. We'll try it. We'll see how you guys like it. But I want you to hear from real life successful high performers. And I'm telling you, high performers hang out with other high performers. That is one advantage of making a decision to be a high performer. You will start to find other high performers. You will start to speak the language just like at the gym.
[00:17:56] You can be the person that you admire. You have to change the identity. So we're going to have some really great stories from executives, from entrepreneurs, and you are going to see some commonalities. And I'm excited for you to hear from women in the trenches who can tell you what you are experiencing is not new. It is not unique.
[00:18:23] What one person can do, so can another. And we're going to tell you how they made it through.
[00:18:31] If this conversation resonates with you and you want to know more about how to work with me, be sure to DM me. I'm available to have a quick chat with you about the Sales Confidence Studio and one of the three levels of support that we provide from introductory to high executive, high touch consultation.
